More about ME? (Week 2)

April 24, 2008 at 11:11 pm (Personal) (, )

HELLO EVERYONE! I realise that some of our classmates wrote something about their life. So, I was wondering if I should do that too? :D So, I have decided! Yes, maybe I should let my readers know more about me! *grins*

Firstly, I think I am one year older than most of you all! It’s not because I’m a secondary 5 student. It’s just that, I went to a very very WRONG place last year! Which I really regret that decision. I graduated from Guangyang Secondary School in year 2006. Then, I got my results in year 2007 (obviously). Ha. My results aren’t really that bad, I think? (Laughs)

English – C5
E Maths – A2
A Maths – B3
Chinese – B3
Humanities (SS/G) – B3
Combine Science (P/C) – A1
Food & Nutrition – B3
CCA – B3

So, for my L1R4, it’s 14 and my L1R5 is 17. Actually, I did applied for FSV last year. But, my interview was a failure. So, I went to NYP – Chemical & Pharmaceutical Technology. I must admit that I am a real idiot at that time! I didn’t even know that Chemical & Pharmaceutical Technology was actually CHEMICAL ENGINEERING! When I realise that I was cheated, it was already too late! I had already enrolled into that course. When I saw the Engineering Mathematics on my timetable, I totally freak out! First thing came to my mind was, “Isn’t it a science course?! Why am I studying engineering mathematics?!” Actually, during that time I went to the open house at NYP, I already know that there is maths taught in this course. But, I know don’t what was actually going through my mind! I didn’t really think of anything. I guess I’ve already set my mind on that course. :x I feel so stupid all of the sudden! Especially when the timetable is totally terrible!

Start lesson in the afternoon and ends lesson at 6pm! (Although there is a day it ends at 6pm in FSV.) But, for NYP’s timetable, it had many many breaks in between lessons! Imagine you have 2 hours, 3 hours break in between! I really think it’s a waste of time. ): For science course, you will have to do lab reports after every lab session. It is totally different from secondary school. And, our lecturer didn’t even tell us what to do for the reports! I really don’t know what to do. The friends in my class aren’t that nice compared to the friends in FSV. So, now I am rather relieved to have those friends in FSV! :D

Why I said the friends in NYP aren’t that nice? Maybe one reason is that, they have the passion for Chemical Engineering? While I have the passion for media. I really find it hard to communicate with them! The girls are always hanging out together and I really feel left out. I remembered once, when we are all outside the toliet, I asked them a question, they didn’t replied me. I asked again. They still talked among themselves. I asked the third time. They still ignored me. I really feel upset at that time! It is real MEAN to ignore a person ok?! ): So, I promised myself, not to let anyone feel left out! Especially when a person said something and no one answers him/her. I will try to give at least a reply. At least he/she will realise that, a person had heard him/her. At least won’t feel that hurt I think?

During lecture, I really couldn’t concentrate! I don’t like Engineering Mathematics. (It’s like A maths, and I hate A maths!) I don’t understand the Inorganic Chemistry too! The chemistry is like A level standard! I didn’t go JC it’s because I think it’s tough! But who knows?! I am actually learning A level chemistry! -.-”’ It had those ideal gas, etc. I really catch no ball! But, miraculously, I actually pass my modules! Only 2 or 3 modules so far. But, it’s just D! Not a good results right?! So, after struggling for 2 months in the course which I hated so so so much, I decided to end the misery! After much thinking, I withdraw my course. I didn’t miss the school, I didn’t miss my friends. No. Maybe it’s because I know I won’t be staying in the course for long, so I also didn’t really take the effort to be good friends with them. Cos I know, if I had become good friends with them, I would really miss them. I wouldn’t want to leave anymore. That’s why, I tried to make myself not-so-good friends with them. ):

After leaving, I actually wanted to transfer to Ngee Ann poly. But, they didn’t take in students in the middle of the semester! No choice, I will have to wait till the next year. So, what am I going to do until next year?! I wanted to choose Chinese Studies. Because, I LOVE CHINESE! Yes, I really love Chinese! (: But, the requirement for Chinese Studies, I MUST get A1-A2 for Chinese. But, I got a B3. A very disappointing B3! It’s all oral’s fault! For Chinese, you can take the O level exam papers for 2 times. One in June and another one in October. But, you can’t retake oral! So, oral really did me in! I still remember the oral question! I won’t forget it! Grrr!

The COP for Chinese Studies that year was 12 points. But, I got 14 points. I’m worried I can’t get into Chinese Studies. So, I decided to retake my O levels. But, just by retaking Chinese, at most I can minus 2 points, which would become 12 points. Is 12 points really enough? So, I looked at my results slip. Which subject can I retake? E Maths & Science of course I wouldn’t be that stupid to retake right?! It’s already an A! So, I decided to retake A Maths. Afterall, maths I just have to understand the formula so I THINK I can get a better results? For F&N, it’s too late to retake. (At that time it’s already June) You will have to do a coursework, which you will be given at the start of the year. Humanities, there will be 2 papers to take! It’s already a miracle that I got a B3! In the past, I always fail humanities! :x So, I decided to retake Chinese & A maths! Actually, I’m worried that I would get a worse results that the previous one. But, luckily, I improved!

Chinese – A1
A Maths – A2

Yes! It’s a miracle! :D So, after getting my results, I decided to apply for FSV. I think my chances of getting into FSV is higher than Chinese Studies. Actually, what I really want is media. FSV is a course on media, while Chinese Studies is half on media and half on literature all those. I’m more interested in media of course! And, because FSV needs interview, maybe I can get in by interview, not by grades. Interview stands a higher chance for DAE student, I think. (:

And, maybe it’s because I am a second time applicant, it already shown my passion for this course! Isn’t it! Ha. So, yes! I got in! :D Tada! & Now you are reading your classmates life story! It’s full of ups and downs yea. :D

First week of SCHOOL! (Week 1)

April 18, 2008 at 8:18 pm (Journal) (, )

Shall blog about the FIRST week of school.

Welcome of Ngee Ann Poly!

First week of school is quite slack of course. Ha. On Monday, went to school for IS at 10pm. Just only IS. It’s contemporary issues. I could only say that the tutorial room is cold! I must bring my jacket there the next time. Watch a movie or short clip by Eric Koo. (Not sure if the name is spelt correctly.) Went home after that.

On Tuesday, lesson starts at 12pm. Went to school for studio production and photography until 2pm and it’s breaktime! After that, storytelling techniques tutorial start at 3pm. I realise that everyone’s English are so strong! I’m really worried that I would fail my storytelling techniques & written communication. Can they like lower the expectations of English? Ha. I must admit I’m an English C5 student. This really reminds me of that time I went for the interview. The interviewer asked me for my grades. Then she said, my Chinese is better than English, why didn’t I choose Chinese Studies? I really don’t know how to answer her question. Actually, I prefer Chinese more than English. If only there is Chinese Mass Communication.

Went for Introduction To Film at 9am on Wednesday. Actually, I thought the lecture would be sometime like teaching us the history of film. (That would be taught the next year.) But, it’s not! We are watching flims instead. So, that was a surprise of the day! *Smiles* Watched the film “Shadow of the doubt”. It was those black and white movie. After the movie, I was so hungry! Went to have lunch with friends at SIM.

Had spaghetti bolognese.

It was Art & Design after that. Oh no! I must admit that I can’t draw. I just hope I can pass this module. I don’t want to fail any module in my 3 years in poly! Went to collect our EZ-link card after that with friends too. Went home after that.

School starts as early as 8am on Thursday! Actually, I woke up early. But I was late for lecture! I woke up at around 6.10am and the journey to school was USUALLY less than an hour. So, i left home at around 7am and took bus to school. But, who knows, I’m stuck in a traffic jam! Ok, now I know, when lessons starts at 8am, I will have to leave home early to prevent traffic jam! What makes it worse is that, I will have to climb this…

HILL! Then I am able to reach block 52! It’s uphill! That’s very tiring ok? (Laughs) I have to walk against the gravity. How terrible.

Went for studio production. My long waited studio production! Listened to some briefing from our lecturer – Mr Douglas. Then, we are able to touch those equipment! But, I didn’t have a chance to touch the camera. So, we are at the, erm. Control room? Director room? Haha. I don’t know what is it called. Oh my god! Studio production is so fun! (: I actually laughed until my stomache pain! Reason is because, Calvin and Li were doing an interview between themselves. I think they said something funny or it’s their actions which are funny. So, I laughed. Ok, I admit, I’m a person who laughs easily. (Hahaha.) Yes, I love studio production! :D Fun is the word to describe!

After studio production, we had 3 hours break! So, we went to SIM again with the whole class! Ate chicken rice. Then we went back to school. Split into 2 groups (i think). For the group I am in, we went to our space@72. Used our laptops there. Talked and laughed again. Oh! I think I am too HIGH that day. In the end, I got a headache. So, I couldn’t really concentrate for Introduction To Film tutorial. I actually fell asleep during tutorial. :x Only fell asleep for awhile when our lecturer is playing the trailer. Woke up after that. If only the tutorial for Introduction To Film can be pushed up or something. Imagine lesson from 8am – 5pm! So tiring.

Bought this book for Introduction To Film. It cost $37.10, including the book cover. Expensive huh?

The last day of the week! It’s photography tutorial! Yes, I love photography too! Tutorial at 12pm – 3pm. Actually I thought it is possible to push the tutorial up to maybe 9am or 10am? But, it seems like it is quite hard. Maybe everything is already set? Don’t know. Anyway, we borrowed the camera from the cage? Or what is it called? I heard our lecturer said something like ‘cage’ or something like that. Or I am having hearing problems? Ha.

It’s around here. FMS block!

When getting our camera, I was hoping to get a number 3 camera. And guess what? I actually got…

Yes, a number 3! (Grins.)

Side view of the camera.

The stones outside our space@72! Erm, just an ART!

We were taught how to check the camera and some functions of the camera. That’s all I guess. We ended class early today. Ends at around 2.30pm? So, went to have our lunch at block 18? Canteen 2.

Had pasta again! Oh, I’m so addicted to pasta!!!

Cheng teng. The ice melts very quickly. And, I think it is not sweet enough. Tasteless.

Look at the cheng teng and the one with black dots. It’s mine and Winnie’s. We didn’t finished it because we finds it tasteless. It cost 60 cents. So, like the chinese saying, “一分钱一分货”. How much you pay is how much you get.

When going home on bus, I saw this on the bus window. Must be the work of the young kids!

PS: Oh my goodness! This is the FIRST TIME I actually write in proper English! Proper as in, capital letters for the first word of the sentences and ‘I’. No Singlish too! Haha. :D
