50 Words Stories

1. The fish
The fish in the tank jump out of the water when Mary came into the room. “Oh my god! Fishy! Why did you do that?!” She shouts and run towards the small fish tank, carry the jumpy fish on her delicate hands and put it back into the smelly water.

2. Over tiredness
“Three! Two! One! And, go!” The runners in the sports complex run with all their might. In a few seconds, they had reached the end point, and the one hundred metre race have ended! To their surprise, John is not with them, he is still at the starting point, sleeping…

3. The birthday surprise
“What the heck is this?! Why did you messed up my kitchen?” Mother shout at the top of her voice. “I’m sorry, mom. Actually I was thinking of baking a cake for your birthday. But it…” Jane spoke softly. “Ok, this is the worst birthday present I’ve gotten.” Mother mumbles.

4. The beautiful coincidence
Cindy is walking on the road alone when she sees a blind man shouting for help. She went forward to help him cross the road when another guy, Shawn, comes forward and help too. The two of them finds each other kind and helpful, so they exchange their contact number.

4. The last meeting
“Son! Come back now! Doctor says that Judy can’t live past tonight!” Anthony hears mum’s voice in the phone and speed his car home. He went forward to Judy, embrace it and stroke its fur. “Don’t worry, everything will be over.” Judy lies in Anthony’s arms for one last time.

5. Changes
There is one thing in the world which can never be change. And the things which cannot be change, is changes. The earth is moving and everything in the world is changing. So, it is not possible that, even in half a second, there is nothing changing in the world.

    Story 4 stands out as one of the best ones in your five because it’s got all the qualities of a good story (set up, twist, etc.) Story 2 and 5 seem to be an extended openers though – have to be careful of that when you’re working with a word limit like 50 words because it’s a test of telling a full story in 50 words.
